Counties to Hold Groundwater Sustainability Agency Formation Forum
The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works and Santa Barbara County Water Agency invite community members to attend a Groundwater Sustainability Agency Formation Stakeholder Forum for the non-adjudicated portions (“fringe areas”) of the Santa Maria Groundwater Basin on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
What: A public meeting to discuss the future of groundwater management required by the new Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). This meeting is focused on efforts in the Santa Maria Basin “fringe areas” or areas outside of the adjudicated basin. The primary goals of this forum are to provide information and engage participants in discussions and feedback on the following topics:
• Stakeholder assessment findings conducted in Fall 2016
• Proposed GSA governance structure options
• GSA advisory committee make-up and appointment process
Who: This meeting is open to the public and interested community members. The forum is specifically intended for groundwater users and affected stakeholders in the non-adjudicated “fringe areas” of the Santa Maria Groundwater Basin areas east of Highway 101 and near / adjacent to Pismo Creek, Arroyo Grande Creek, the Nipomo Valley east of Nipomo Mesa, the Cuyama River downstream of Twitchell Reservoir, and along Tepesquet Creek.
When: Thursday, March 9, 2017, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
