By Santa Maria Police Department

On February 26, 2017 at about 0224 hours, a convenience store in the 1900 block of S. Broadway was robbed. SMPD officers responded to the scene and arrived within 1-2 minutes. Officers learned that an unidentified Black male adult entered the business, brandished a firearm and forced the clerk to handover an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect fled the area on foot prior to officers' arrival. He was last seen running westbound on Carmen Lane from Broadway. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and were unable to locate the suspect. Nobody was injured during the incident.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Santa Maria Police Department @ (805) 928-3781 x2277.
