Report Storm Damage to County

Request to Residents and Businesses to Report Storm Damage

Due to the ongoing Proclamation of Local Emergency and as a result of damages and the continuing damaging effects from the recent storms throughout the County, the County Office of Emergency Services is requesting that residents and businesses report storm damage.

On Tuesday, February 21, the County Board of Supervisors was presented with a thirty-day update on the storm conditions and damages and hence reaffirmed the continuance of the Proclamation of Local Emergency, originally proclaimed on January 24.

The County's Proclamation of Local Emergency was made in part because local agencies require assistance beyond their capabilities to respond to storm related recovery efforts. The Proclamation of Local Emergency streamlines the approval process necessary to obtain additional State assistance and resources. Together, the local and State proclamations also allow local government agencies to apply for disaster cost reimbursement through the California Disaster Assistance Act (CDAA).

Unfortunately, disaster assistance through these particular programs are only available for costs and damages to local government public agency infrastructure and related losses. However, the County Office of Emergency Services (County OES) is requesting residents and businesses that incurred damages during the storms to report these damages. The information will be complied and given to State and Federal authorities to help determine if the County might qualify for a Federal disaster declaration, which could provide assistance for individuals and businesses.

County OES is accepting damage assessment reports via voice message, e-mail or U.S. Mail. Please provide name, contact phone number, address and a brief overview of damages incurred, including repair costs and other costs of damages if known.

? For phone reports, please call 805-781-5020 to leave a message with the information.

? For email, please use the "Contact Us" link on the County OES web site: www.slocounty.ca.gov/oes

? For U.S. Mail, mail to County OES, 1055 Monterey St, Rm. D430, San Luis Obispo, CA 93408.
