Details of News Release:
On 7-15-12, San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office/Coroner's detectives
responded to a report of a discovery of partial skeletal remains. The remains
were found in an area on the South side of Tank Farm road between Higuera Street
and Highway 227. The person leasing the land discovered the badly decomposed
remains in the water of the creek that flows through the property. Because there
was no identification, investigators submitted this case to the Department of
Justice for DNA profiling and also to a national missing person database. In
December, the DNA profile of the remains was identified. And then on 2-4-13,
based on that profile, a DNA match was received from the Texas Department of
Criminal Justice. The body has been identified as William Grant Grable II, 51, a
transient from Texas. Grable appears to have died of natural causes although
because of the advanced state of decomposition, the cause and manner of death
remains undetermined. Special recognition goes to the Coroner's detectives for
their diligence and hard work in solving this case.
