Definitely felt it near Goleta Cottage. Mostly a few hard shakes, hard to tell if it's a pressure wave or ground shaking when you're in a mobile home... There was a 2.6 in Cherry Valley about that time, but it seems highly unlikely so many would feel something so small from so far away.

There was finally one showing up on the earthquake map for that time in Cherry Valley - a 2.6 magnitude. They used to show up on the USGS map immediately, but this one took a long time to show up on the map... not sure if that was what we felt, but we definitely had some shaking. (911 - why do you say hanging items don't swing? There are many types of earthquakes rolling, shaking... and hanging things can swing from them).

Military jets maneuvering far offshore can briefly break the sound barrier with wingtips and tails when doing tight turns. The sound can carry a long ways under the right atmospheric conditions. @904, detailed analysis of cultural artifacts and figures show that all Mayan aircraft were very subsonic.

Surprised no one knows that it's Pt. Mugu/San Nicolas Island ordnance testing. (Not an earthquake or HAARP.) Pretty common occurrence: "The San Nicolas Island Vandal Launch Pad launch complex is capable of supporting missile (Tomahawk & RAM) and missile targets (Vandal) launches. The west end of San Nicolas Island provides a secured area for missile targets and is often used for SLAM and land attach missile operations. The Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) is a remote controlled ship with SeaSparrow, RAM, and CWIS defense systems and various target acquisition systems. It provides an open-ocean, integrated, self-defense platform without the safety constraints associated with a manned ship. "

No way that 2.6 in cherry valley would be felt here. And a 2.6 centered in SB wouldn't be felt in Solvang either. Felt very similar to the subsurface explosions used for seismic surveys on which I used to work. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office received several reports of what appeared to be seismic activity in the county. The Sheriff's Office has confirmed through various state and federal agencies that there has been no seismic activity in our area. It's believed the activity was caused by sonic booms from military aircraft flying over this region of California. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirms there was a sonic boom reported at 9:26 AM and again at 9:40 AM.

Definately a sonic boom or similar and not an earthquake. Come on people, use your senses! Did the windows and exterior doors shake violently, or the whole room? 2.6 earthquake BALONEY! CA native here: most people wont even feel an earthquake that small, let alone from 200 miles away. it's amazing how stupid the govt thinks we are.

Why are we still arguing over whether it was an earthquake or not? Totally wasn't an earthquake, folks ... Unless you're commenting from Riverside ...

What we felt in Santa Ynez was exactly what it feels like to be on a quake epicenter. Just a big sharp jolt. We did hear rumblings several times afterwards though, which made us suspect military jets or?

By how rattled we are--pun intended--it's clear the government can really agitate the population. I wish they would at least give people a heads up to not be afraid. Without info, we fill in the blanks. Or fight trying.

KSBY: "David Oppenheimer with the U.S. Geological Survey told KSBY News the shaking and boom seems to have been caused by a "sonic signal not an earthquake." He continued to say that the object is most likely an aircraft heading north and that preliminary reports show it reaching 2,000-plus miles per hour." There's not a lot out there that goes that fast.

Repent. Tomorrow at 5:00 am, (PST) throughout the entire planet, they will reveal themselves to us. At that time, you may choose your path. All will be revealed, and those who doubt now of the "Arrival" will be made whole. Higher consciousness is just hours away.

Clearly the F-22 Raptor and its ensuing "skyquakes" were caused by it vainly attempting to intercept alien invaders who themselves received a popup notification from their Outlook 3000 calendar software reminding them to return and destroy us all.

My observations show that this event took place for over a half an hour...sonic boom? I don't think so unless the craft was making circles or loops over SB. How about the underwater low frequency stuff that the Navy does off shore, you know, to harass and kill whales?

081 - underwater low freq would not cause booms like that. If they were flying around the missile test range, they could've been doing multiple firing passes on San Nic. But, if you want to not believe the official statement, that's ok too. The earthquake was a 2.6 and in Riverside county, none of us around here felt that. Heck people in SB didn't even feel the one in Solvang a few weeks ago.

911 here, as I said hypersonic craft. We never know what the current state of weapons are, but I suspect this is "Aurora" craft. Very large, carries 100+ icbm's, flies at mach 3-5!!! And uses pulsed propulsion technology. (pop pop pop sound and contrails that look like pearl necklace). Because our flimsy 60's house (the cheapest windows ever made) rattles violently to the weakest skyquakes, we have been interested in this for at least 10 years.

http://www.facebook.com/30thSpaceWing?ref=stream -- Wondering about the noise and shaking from this morning? We have an update from Edwards Air Force Base Public Affairs with the following: "We (Edwards AFB PA) can confirm it was an F-22 flying in the Western Pacific Test Range on an authorized test flight 50 miles west of the Vandenberg coastline. Edwards conducts these types of operations year-round, but today’s atmospheric conditions allowed the boom to be heard and felt along the Central Coast."

Sure am glad I read Noozhawk before Edhat this morning. Thanks for the entertainment! As usual, I just freeze and wait to see if it's a big one. Indeed, nothing but the windows shook. Very strange. There are things here of which we know not, in the spirit of Hamlet's saying. Roger, are you sure it's the Oreo Cookie and not the Flying Spaghetti Monster? :-) Happy Solstice, All!

We felt it too - over by Oak Park and Cottage Hospital! It felt like the window-rattling experience we have every time a helicopter flies over to land a block away on the hospital roof - but without the very loud apocalyptic noise that generally accompanies them! Those of you who felt those 2 weird events now know why we are always moaning about the hospital helicopters; we can get that kind of interruption up to 8 times a day! SO... What was yesterday's cause? WAS it really an earthquake? Nothing moved!
