Lois Capps and her colleagues in the California Congressional Delegation sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano yesterday voicing concern over increased panga activity.

While I applaud her efforts, I can't help to think that, as long as America provides the "demand" for illegal drugs, the smugglers will continue to bring it over the border. So, how to we remove the demand for drugs? Only a few ways I can think of......

legalize it and the profits for the mexican drug cartels go away. people have been smoking dope for thousands of years. we will never have a drug free society so let's just move on! criminalize bad behavior like DUI and let me take a bong hit, sit back in my easy chair with some cheetos and listen to some pink floyd. i'm not hurting anyone by doing that. oh yeah, i know that there will be lots of posts about how i'm hurting myself and my family by doing that, but if i keel over dead from eating too many big macs, how is that different? shall we outlaw everything that's bad for us? i don't think so.

LOL but smoking weed might CAUSE you to consume too many big macs and therefore be a gateway drug into eating junk that will kill you.

How about sending a letter voicing concern over the fact that the DHS and TSA are destroying our 4th amendment right to privacy, all in the name of keeping us safe?
