RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
updated: Dec 02, 2012, 9:50 AM

By SLO PD

WHAT: RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

WHERE: Neighborhoods in the Cal Poly area of San Luis Obispo

WHEN: November 30 - December 1, 2012

The San Luis Obispo Police Department is investigating a rash of residential burglaries in the neighborhoods surrounding the Cal Poly Campus. Since the early evening of November 30, SLOPD officers have taken five burglary reports in which a total of 15 MacBook Pro laptop computers have been taken.

What makes these burglaries stand out from other burglaries that occur from time to time throughout the city is that the MacBook laptops seem to be the intended target item of the burglars. Other valuable items are not taken or even disturbed. Preliminary information gathered by officers at this point suggest these burglaries may be a part of a larger, organized theft ring rather than just random crimes of opportunity.

The burglaries have been reported in the following locations:

1200 and 1300 blocks of Foothill 0-100 block of Hathway 300 block of Buena Vista

Residents are encouraged to secure their homes at all times. If leaving the area for the weekend or holidays, please consider taking your valuable items with you. Residents are also asked to report suspicious activity/persons to the police department immediately.
