Coronado National Forest, Portal, AZ, is 60 miles from the border with Mexico. Birding is often a
'tropical' surprise, such as seeing Elegant Trogons. This is one of the most spectacular birding sites anywhere. One catch...there
are drug runners (guys with backpacks full of you-know-what) and armed, you might run across. This jaring sign shouts
the warning.
