I used to see these when they were about marijuana busts and was disgusted. Glad they're getting the meth guys now.

There has to be a vast drug distribution and stolen goods fencing system in place in this county. Break it up and send them packing.

There's something oddly similar with each of these people but I can't quite put my finger on it. Hmmm. Are they racist?

I sent this earlier but for some reason it didn't show up: Landscape Architect Sydney Baumgartner (her office is in the phone book) is an expert on Lutah Maria Riggs and would be the person to contact.

I had the distinct pleasure of serving on the Decoration Committee for the Senior Ball at UC Berkeley with Lutah. Later, I would oft' times pass by her home on Middle Road in Montecito on my daily jaunt down to the village.

There are planes around the Grand Canyon, helicopters, too. John is very gracious by sending pictures of this wonderfully beautiful canyon. I've not seen it in decades, lovely pictures!

Thank you to 973 for your very sane comments about what constitutes nature and a reminder of how far removed we all are from what is "NATURAL". And thank you to the original poster for sharing this. It does my heart good to see that in spite of our encroachment into the habitats of wild animals there are still some places for them to simply live and continue to exist.

Quite beautiful. Thanks! 411346 sounds like my mom, who celebrated her 50th birthday on a raft on the Colorado. She always said it was (in the words of the little bird in an airline ad) "the only way to fly."

John- you're bringing back some great memories of my rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. One of our stops was the Little Colorado where we shot the mini rapids on our bums! Its a beautiful spot and the water is much warmer than the 50 degree big Colorado. Some people say looking down into the Grand Canyon is something that doesn't disappoint, but I say the only real way to see the Grand Canyon is floating down the Colorado River. It's something you'll never forget!

That is a very young bobcat. As it gets older it will be able to track much more difficult prey.

Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing. Point of information: The fawn(s) are probably a month or more old rather than a week. It is common for the Mother Doe to keep the children well hidden for several weeks before they start traveling with her full time.

I have 2 new spotted fawns no bigger than a dog, hippity hopping outside my office window in Cambria. I keep my camera at the ready, but they are so skittish I cannot step outside on my deck for a good photo; nursing Mama is with them. Thanks for your great photos!

@058 apple products are designed far better than most computersand provide far more value per dollar, in my experience, as an IT manager at a design firm with both macs and pcs. I personally own a Sony laptop(happy till the hard drive failed after three years), three Mac towers(one has been running non stop since 1997, thats right, 16 plus years, another is mothballed, older still, and still runs, the third a Mac clone I'm keeping for posterity or as collectors item, running also). So the 2k I spent on the one works out to a few bucks a year. Or a $700 PC that craps out in a couple years, intermittent OS glitches, constant updates and threats to contend with, and the hassle of regularly (every 2years) replacing pc's and migrating software. Lifecycle costs don't even come close.
